With desktop sales continuing to fall and laptops continuing their gradual upward trend, let’s take a quick look at 5 of the best laptop brands in the world.

More and more people are ditching their desktops for laptops. The portability they offer alongside the ever-increasing power, it is a move that makes sense to most. not only are they perfect for companies that have to travel a lot, but also those of us that dream of life as a digital nomad.

As you can see in the graphic below from Statista, laptops are by far the most popular choice for everyday computing. Interesting to see that the surge in popularity for tablets when they were new tech came and went, but laptop sales remain stoic.

So that said, here are the 5 best laptop brands in the world who between them make up 73.3% of all computer sales around the globe. While each model these producers make will vary, almost anything you buy from these companies will be a pretty solid machine.

1. Apple

Apple is one of the best laptop brands in the world

Oh Apple, the American multinational company that has turned electronics into a lifestyle. While when looking at computers alone, they are not the leader in sales, but the brand that is responsible for such iconic products like iPhones, iPods, iPads and more, certainly makes some of the best laptops around.

Developers in my workplace go crazy for Apple, and if the people who are writing computer programs say Apple is the go-to machine, that’s a great endorsement for me. The machines are reliable and provide excellent performance. It’s worth noting that they also offer top customer service and warranty.

However, this does come at a price. The Apple brand is very much focussed on premium machines, and so its products are always expensive.

But, you can be sure that Apple laptops and tablets are built with a magnificent display, fantastic chassis, and minimal bezels. They are an excellent option for performing day-to-day tasks, but the entry-level machines may struggle with heavy intense tasks such as video processing. I’d highly recommend their products as some of the best laptops for writers, travelers, and any professionals.

2. Dell

Dell is also an American multinational company which is entirely based on computer technology. After a long struggle, it has succeeded in becoming one of the most popular brands in the world.

It is holding this position by producing innovative designs and variety of models giving way for the customers to choose laptops as per their wish. They have earned plenty of customers because of their quality products.

Dell also offers a 1-year warranty for their products, and you can also extend it for up to 3 years with additional fees (if needed). Mlaptops are any of their laptops are extremely light (perfect for those who travel regularly) and feature stylish, decent internal hardware. You can get some of the best small laptops and ultraportables from them. This makes Dell stand out globally in the laptop world.

3. Lenovo

Lenovo has secured third place in my list of brands. It is a Chinese multinational company producing computers, smartphones, workstations, and other electronic storage devices. It is actually the most popular based on worldwide sales, as you’d expect, a lot of those sales are in China.

Lenovo has won customer’s loyalty for their high-quality products at a great price. They provide some of the best quality sound, display graphics, and touchpad in their products. Honestly, one of the things I can’t stress enough is the importance of an excellent touchpad. I have a great laptop I use in my home, powerful and good looking, but the touchpad is awful and manages to make me mad every time I have to use it. Luckily as a home laptop, I always have a mouse plugged into it. Anyway, I went off track, I hope I made my point though!

Back to Lenovo, these are budget-friendly and are loved by their customers and they make some of the best Chromebooks for travel.

4. HP

Hewlett-Packard Company is commonly referred to simply as HP. It is also an American company, based in Palo Alto, California. All its products have a unique look and are stronger than other brands and are the second most popular in the world by sales.

Their standard laptops are super fast and more powerful. It offers the consumer quality with a focus on sound and graphics. Because of its robust hardware and quality laptops, it had earned excellent reviews from their customers

5. ASUS

Finally, we have ASUS, a Taiwan based multinational company manufacturing computer hardware. It is also one of the best companies in the laptop industry.

The huge plus in ASUS products is its high-end performance. It is the leading competitor in releasing the thinnest Gaming laptops. It also comes with impressive designs and innovative features to hold a unique position in the world.

Computer market sales share by brand

So there you have it, these are some of the topmost brands in the world, in producing good quality laptops. Together, these five companies alone, make up 73.3% of computer sales (including desktop and tablets) worldwide.

There are some great up and coming brands in the 26.7% made up by others. Alienware is already well known and has a loyal following in the gaming community, and Razer is also producing some great products. The biggest name not in this list and making up 6.1% of the other section is Acer.

However, my recommendation for an up and coming brand, if I were to include the 6th brand, would be Xaiomi. They are still relatively new to the laptop market, but if their other electronic products are anything to go by, they will be making some pretty epic machines as very low prices, definitely, one to keep an eye on.

So do you have a favorite computer brand, do you have something to recommend outside of these brands that would make an excellent laptop for travel? Be sure to let us know in the comments, and we can take a closer look!
